OnlySky’s generative AI standards and practices
OnlySky embraces the thoughtful use of generative artificial intelligence as a tool for enhancing human creativity, efficiency, and engagement. AI is an evolving force in our culture, economy, and governance—core areas of exploration for our platform. But we at OnlySky firmly believe that AI should serve human creativity, not replace it.
Our editorial approach ensures that every piece of published content is the product of human creativity, editorial oversight, and rigorous fact-checking. Below are our principles guiding the responsible and transparent use of AI at OnlySky:
AI is an assistive tool, not a replacement
AI may assist in research and idea generation, but the final voice and perspective in every published article belong to a human writer.
Our contributors include recognized academics, authors, philosophers, and subject-matter experts. You can explore their profiles here.
We do not publish fully AI-generated articles or content without meaningful human authorship and editorial refinement. The sole exception to this policy is work intended to demonstrate issues around the topic of AI itself, including capabilities, shortcomings, potential, and risk. In every such case, the AI agent (such as ChatGPT or DeepSeek) is clearly designated.
Editorial oversight and fact-checking
All published work is reviewed by our Editor-in-Chief , who brings decades of expertise in writing, editing, and journalism, as well as a watchful skepticism about the direction and risks of AI.
Every submission undergoes rigorous human review to ensure accuracy, coherence, and journalistic integrity.
AI-generated material is treated as source material—just like online research or interviews—but does not dictate conclusions or opinions.
AI in multimedia and audio
We leverage AI-powered narration to convert written articles into audio for reader convenience.
Our Unreal with A.I.mee & A.I.den podcast features clearly identified AI personas discussing human-written articles. In addition to providing a new content channel, this experiment is intended to engender discussion around the topic of AI itself, including capabilities, shortcomings, potential, and risk.
As we explore AI-powered video content, we will continue ensuring AI enhances—not replaces—human creativity and is always identified as AI assisted.
AI-generated images disclosure
When AI is used to create article images, we clearly disclose it in the image caption.
We do not use AI to manipulate reality in a misleading or deceptive way (e.g., deepfakes).
Transparency and responsible AI use
AI is an enabling tool, much like Microsoft Word or Photoshop. As such, we do not disclose incidental AI use (e.g. for research or idea generation) on an article-by-article basis. But we maintain strict editorial policies to ensure everything published meets our standards for originality and human authorship.
We do not enter confidential or proprietary information into AI tools and advise our contributors to follow the same practice.
Ethical AI & no deepfakes or AI-generated endorsements
We do not allow AI-generated endorsements, deceptive narratives, or synthetic personas to represent actual people.
Our sponsorship policy details our approach to transparency in paid partnerships and content.
AI and humanism: Our editorial perspective
OnlySky is dedicated to exploring the ways AI intersects with culture, society, politics, philosophy, worldview, religion, and humanism—the aspects of life that shape our shared future.
While many other publications focus on deep technical analysis of AI’s underlying engineering, OnlySky is focused on critically examining AI's broader implications—how it challenges, reshapes, and enhances human experience.
Our coverage reflects a thoughtful, balanced approach, engaging with AI’s role in shaping ethics, governance, creativity, and personal meaning. Articles like “Machines and Meaning: AI’s Role in a Humanist Future” exemplify this perspective.
Our future with AI
AI will continue to shape our work, and we embrace innovation in multimedia storytelling, accessibility, and engagement.
We are committed to thoughtful experimentation while ensuring human authors remain central to everything we create.
This policy reflects our mission: to illuminate the possible, shape tomorrow, and foster a world where technology enhances—not replaces—human insight and creativity.
